Deso fat dissolving injections are a cosmetic treatment designed to reduce localized pockets of fat in certain areas of the body. These injections contain a substance called deoxycholic acid, which is a naturally occurring acid that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat in the body.
When injected into specific areas, such as under the chin (submental fat) or around the abdomen, thighs, or upper arms, deso fat dissolving injections work by disrupting the membranes of fat cells. Deoxycholic acid acts as a detergent, breaking down the fat cell walls and causing them to rupture. This process releases the stored fat, which is then gradually metabolized and eliminated by the body’s natural processes.
It’s important to note that deso fat dissolving injections are not a weight loss solution and are best suited for individuals with small areas of stubborn fat that are resistant to diet and exercise, such as double chins, abdomen “belly pouches”, “love handles”, upper arms or “bingo wings”, thighs etc. The treatment is most effective when combined with a healthy lifestyle, including a balanced diet and regular physical activity.
After the procedure, some common side effects may include swelling, bruising, redness, and tenderness in the treated area. These effects are usually temporary and subside within a few days to a couple of weeks.
Fat dissolving injections are made up of a chemical called Deoxycholic Acid which disrupts the cell membrane of fat cells.
In laymans terms, it makes fat cells burst. The fat they contain is then reabsorbed into your blood stream, filtered out by your liver, and made into bile fats which are excreted naturally.
4-6 weeks are required between each treatment.
What we refer to as the “bullfrog” swelling usually settles in around a week, however some residual swelling can still be evident up to 4 weeks after treatment.
Once you’ve completed your treatments, the results are permanent – providing that you don’t put on a substantial amount of weight.
Any medical treatment comes with risks, however Novellus believes that the mark of a responsible practitioner is their ability to mitigate risk as much as possible, and appropriately treat any issues that arise.
Common adverse effects with fat dissolving are; swelling, bruising, redness. Which are all to be expected due to the nature of the treatment.
More serious complications are usually caused by injecting too superficially or too deep, which can cause damage to either overlying skin or underlying muscle. Patient selection and anatomy knowledge are essential when approaching fat dissolving treatments.
Fat dissolving injections can be briefly painful, however we combat this by mixing a local anaesthetic into the product which kicks in very quickly and numbs the area.
